"Second Chances" is the eleventh episode of the fifth season of Arrow, and the one-hundred-third episode overall. It aired on February 1, 2017.


In his quest to take down Kovar, Oliver gets help from a surprising source – Talia al Ghul. However, when she reveals what she wants from him in exchange, Oliver isn’t sure he can accept her help. Felicity attempts to hack the NSA to help free Diggle but when her online efforts are flagged, she faces off against an unknown adversary. Meanwhile, Curtis tells the team about a female vigilante, Tina Boland, he uncovered online who has been wreaking havoc all over the country.[1]



Preparation ran from October 24 until November 1, 2016. Filming ran from November 2 until November 14, 2016, with a break for Remembrance Day on November 11.[2]


  • A notable crossover with The Flash occurred in this episode along with an appearance from Singh.
  • When searching for a new candidate as Black Canary, Rene mentions one woman being a flight pilot which Curtis reminds him of Top Gun, a 1986 flight film starring Tom Cruise.
  • This is the second time the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator explosion is seen on Arrow. The first time was in Three Ghosts.
  • At the beginning of the episode, Linda Park can be seen at the TV screen, reporting on the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator. This is the first appearance of Linda since "Enter Zoom". However it was the Arrow version of the character.
  • Oliver received the bow and Hood suit from Talia al Ghul in Russia.
  • This is the first episode of Arrow to feature 3 Meta-humans: Dinah Drake, Sean Sonus, and The Flash.
  • The title comes from a line Rene said when Team Arrow was looking for Dinah.
  • Kacey Rohl, Steve Bacic and Clayton Chitty previously appeared on Supernatural.
  • This is the only episode to feature Clayton Chitty in the role of Vincent Sobel. The next time Vincent was seen in the next season, he is played by Johann Urb instead of Chitty.
  • Lexa Doig, Patrick Sabilongui, Steve Bacic and Garry Chalk previously appeared in the Stargate franchise.
