- "He was a great Samurai. I built him the strongest and most formidable armor in all of Japan."
- —Ichiro Yamashiro on crafting armor for his son[src]
A suit of armor was created by Ichiro Yamashiro for his son, Oda Yamashiro. It was used by Ray Palmer in a duel against Tokugawa Iemitsu, the Shogun of Japan in 1641. Although it has sustained some damage during the duel, the armor served its purpose.
The armor was crafted by Ichiro Yamashiro for Oda Yamashiro's service as a Samurai in the army of Tokugawa Iemitsu. Resenting Oda for his popularity among the men, Iemitsu ordered the Samurai to commit seppuku. His sword and armor were then sent back to his family, with the Shogun ordering Ichiro to destroy the equipment. Ichiro did not do so, instead storing it for a later date. The armor was eventually used by the time traveler Ray Palmer, who needed to protect himself against Shogun Tokugawa, who had stolen Ray's A.T.O.M. Exosuit. The armor served its purpose well, protecting Ray from his much more advanced futuristic creation, although it has sustained some damage. After the battle Ray brought the armor back to Ichiro, apologizing for the damages, but the craftsman disagreed, saying that it was the armor's purpose to be damaged instead of its user.
