Kanjar Ro was a figure of some renown, known to Jon Valor's time pirates. Rip Hunter claimed that Ray Palmer was a master starship captain, saying that "He once outran Kanjar Ro himself". Rip's wording was actually a code phrase, used to remotely activate the Waverider's defensive capabilities.

- Brandon Routh, who plays Ray Palmer on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, also played Superman, who has, in fact, survived a confrontation with Kanjar Ro.
