John Scot Barrowman (born March 11, 1967) is a Scottish-American actor, singer, dancer, and writer. He portrayed Malcolm Merlyn/Dark Archer in Arrow and The Flash. He also portrayed Malcolm Merlyn in Arrow and Cutter Moran in The Flash.
Also, with his older sister, Carole E. Barrowman, they wrote Arrow's third comic book tie-in series, Arrow: The Dark Archer.
Barrowman signed a deal that would make him a series regular across all of the Berlanti shows (like Katie Cassidy and Wentworth Miller). He had the freedom to move across the fifth season of Arrow, the third season of The Flash and the second season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
In May 2017, Barrowman announced he was not returning to the Arrowverse for the 2017-18 season after his character was killed off in "Lian Yu", despite the ambiguous nature of the event, and he stated that he was unhappy with the producers' decision to do so. However, since then, Barrowman appeared in "Elseworlds, Part 2" as a special guest star. And in August 2019, Barrowman confirmed his character would be back for "Starling City", the Season 8 premiere episode.
