"Kara Danvers is my favorite person! She saved me more times than Supergirl ever could, so just... think about that while you're trying to get rid of her!"

Trivia

  • This episode was the first to feature Erica Durance as Alura Zor-El. She took over the role from Laura Benanti.
  • Lena remarked to Morgan that he had "all of the charisma of a Michael Douglas movie from the '80s".
  • The episode's title is a classic title given to Supergirl. It is also a slight alteration of the title of the DCEU 2013 Superman film Man of Steel.
  • The opening scene bears a strong resemblance to a scene in Superman Returns in which Superman, struggling with romantic issues, hovers high above in the dark, using his super hearing to listen to various noises like sirens before snapping his eyes open and flying back down, just in time to stand in front of two officers being shot at by a rotary machine gun.
