"Pilot, Part 2" is the second episode of the first season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and the second episode overall. It aired on January 28, 2016. It is the second half of the two-part pilot.
Synopsis[]
| Tipped off to Vandal Savage's whereabouts, the team infiltrates a munitions deal with Professor Stein as their leader. Surrounded by some of the toughest criminals in the world, things quickly go from bad to worse when Savage realizes they don't belong there. A massive fight ensues and a piece of the Atom's suit falls off and into the wrong hands, which could potentially cause disastrous consequences in the future. Stein realizes the best way to retrieve the missing piece is to contact a brilliant man – his younger self. He, Sara and Jax head off in search of young Martin Stein, much to Rip's consternation. Meanwhile, Snart and Rory plan to steal a key element in defeating Savage but still unsure of his new teammates, Ray demands to come along on the mission. Plot[]
The team arrives in Norway 1975. They plan to infiltrate a black market arms bazaar, where Savage is likely to participate. Snart, Rory and Ray are eager to go. Rip tries to dissuade them, without success. Along with Sara, they go to the bazaar, and Snart swipes a credential. The guard blocks them, but Stein arrives, convincing him that they are operatives of the Scimitar, and responsible on a number of terrorist acts. The guard lets them in.
Kendra, Carter and Jax are on the roof, ready to provide backup. The team keeps an eye out for Savage, thinking he is one of the buyers (one of the buyers is Damien Darhk with his H.I.V.E. members). However, Savage is actually the seller of a nuclear warhead. The bidding starts, and Savage senses Kendra and Carter are close. He notices the team, and in order to maintain cover, Stein tells Snart to shoot in order to make a bid. And the bid hits to the team. Darhk comes and is suspicious about Stein, but Savage breaks the confrontation. The team tries to maintain their cover, but when Stein tries to suspect Savage about not being able to create a working warhead in "this era", Savage realizes they are impostors. Jax tells Kendra and Carter to prepare. Savage offers 25% discount to anyone, who will bring them the team's heads, and a fight breaks, when Rory attacks. Ray joins the fight from Stein's pocket. Savage watches the fight and Kendra and Carter encounter him directly. Savage activates the warhead. Jax and Stein merge. Sara informs about the bomb, and Ray flies inside to try and disarm it. But the timer counts down to 30 seconds as soon as he does. Firestorm takes the warhead away to let it detonate and absorb the blast. They succeed.
The team returns to the Waverider, and Rip is not happy, as the team has now exposed themselves to Savage. On top of that, during the fight, a piece of tech from Ray's suit was cut loose, and Savage found it. With it, Savage can now build a greater weapon than a nuclear bomb, and a result is that Central City will be destroyed in 2016.

- Where Snart wears his parka. He later switches to a more form-fitting leather jacket in place of it.
- However, Snart wears the parka again in The Flash episode, "Infantino Street".
- To feature Falk Hentschel (Carter Hall) as a series regular.

- Damien Darhk makes a cameo in this episode. When this episode first aired, Damien Darhk served as the main antagonist in the fourth season of Arrow (on Arrow, the version of Damien Darhk is from 2016, while in this episode, it's a version of him from 1975). Darhk will later become one of the secondary antagonists, alongside with Malcolm Merlyn, in the second season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
- The mansion owned by Vandal Savage is the same mansion owned by Damien Dahrk.
- The outfit that Mick picked up for the trip to the 1970s in the previous episode becomes his signature outfit for the rest of the series, until "Land of the Lost".
- A joke is made that Professor Stein and White Canary are "The Professor and Ginger", referencing the sitcom Gilligan's Island.

Exosuit and using it to create a weapon to destroy the world in an alternate timeline is similar to what happened in an episode of the animated series Justice League; Vandal Savage killed Ray Palmer and stole a piece of the dwarf star to build a weapon that killed the members of the Justice League.
- It is revealed that only Kendra can kill Savage with the Amon Dagger.
- The crumbling city that Rip showed the team was Central City in 2016.
- While locked inside the cage in Savage's mansion, Ray mentions to Leonard "in another life, you could've been an electrical engineer". This is possibly a reference to Wentworth Miller's former role as fugitive Michael Scofield in the TV series Prison Break, who was a structural engineer before deliberately getting himself incarcerated in prison.
- During the same conversation, Snart refers to Ray being the ATOM by calling him "Incredible shrinking schmuck", which is possibly a reference to the 1957 film The Incredible Shrinking Man.

- When Professor Stein, Sara, and Jefferson arrive in Ivy Town in 1975, the students were dancing to "Disco Inferno" by The Trammps. That song was released in 1976.
- When Vandal Savage meets Hawkgirl and Hawkman in his mansion, he addresses Hawkgirl in a modern slang of Arabic, not in an ancient Egyptian language.
