—Jax and Stein

"Abominations" is the fourth episode of the second season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and the twentieth episode overall. It aired on November 3, 2016.

Synopsis

When the Legends discover a time aberration in 1863, they find themselves fighting for survival during the Civil War with Confederate soldiers who have been turned into zombies, which utterly terrifies Martin. With the Civil War outcome hanging in the balance, Jax must participate in a daring mission by going to a slave plantation with Amaya. Meanwhile, Sara begins to feel the burden of the decisions she has to make as the leader, and Ray struggles to find his purpose on the team.[1]

Trivia

  • This is the first episode of the series to not feature Amy Pemberton (Gideon).
  • When hiding from Mick Rory, who had turned into a zombie, Martin Stein refers to him as 'the Walking Dead'. This could be a possible reference to the Walking Dead television and comic book series.
  • The Time Pirate that accidentally spreads the zombification mentions a virus starting with "T" was the cause. This is reference to Resident Evil 's T-virus, which reanimates the dead.
  • Stein notes the zombies are not technically dead, but suffering from symptoms that give them "zombie powers". Such an example is a head still being alive after Sara cuts it off.
  • After Jax reveals his name as Jefferson Jackson, the slaves mention that he shares his two names with famous slaveowners, referring to former US Presidents Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson respectively, who both owned slaves.
  • After learning more about the Legends from Nate Heywood, Ulysses S. Grant refers to Sara as "Captain Lance". Her father was also given that title when he was police captain.
  • Jax and Amaya correct on aberration/injustice by freeing slaves.
  • Nate claims that he is Colonel Sanders. In real life, Colonel Sanders founded the franchise of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
  • If one reviews the fight, Mick is never shown being bitten by any of the zombies.
