Trivia[]
- When hiding from Mick Rory, who had turned into a zombie, Martin Stein refers to him as "the Walking Dead". This could be a possible reference to the The Walking Dead television and comic book series.
- The Time Pirate who accidentally spreads the zombification mentions a virus starting with "T" was the cause. This is reference to Resident Evil's T-virus, which reanimates the dead.
- Stein notes the zombies are not technically dead, but suffering from symptoms that give them "zombie powers". Such an example is a head still being alive after Sara cuts it off.
- After Jax reveals his full name name as "Jefferson Jackson", the slaves mention that he shares his two names with famous slaveowners, referring to former US Presidents Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson respectively, who both owned slaves.
- The slaves Jax is imprisoned with sing "Follow the Drinkin' Gourd", a coded message used by the Underground Railroad. The drinking gourd refers to the Big Dipper, which can be used to find the North Star. The Big Dipper is even seen at the end of the episode as the song plays again.
- After learning more about the Legends from Nate Heywood, Ulysses S. Grant refers to Sara as "Captain Lance". Her father was also given that title when he was police captain.
- Nate uses the alias "Colonel Sanders". In real life, Colonel Sanders founded the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise.
- When Ray is discussing what to do with a zombified Mick with Martin, he refers to the latter as "Marty" which is likely a reference to Marty McFly, the protagonist of Back to the Future.
Goofs[]
- If one reviews the fight, Mick is never shown being bitten by any of the zombies.
- As Jax searches a desk at the Collins Plantation, the drawers he opens are installed with extension slides, the first patents of which weren't issued until the 1900s.
- Grant is wearing the 3-star rank of Lieutenant General, which he did not receive until 1864. He should be a Major-General (2-star) but Grant rarely wore any rank insignia, preferring the simple sack coat of a private.
- One of the slaves, Mary, says her mother was from Zambesi. However, as the Atlantic slave trade ceased in 1807, it is highly doubtful any young slave in the United States would have a mother who came from Africa in 1863.
- After the nitroglycerin explodes, Nate's clothing is completely intact.
